Dog Training & Behavior Articles: Featured in Bay Woof Magazine

Alongside the weekly blogs I share here, I also contribute regularly to Bay Woof Magazine, a publication dedicated to the Bay Area’s dog-loving community. Being featured there gives me the chance to reach a broader audience and share practical, evidence-based insights into dog behavior and training.

Here are three of my most recent articles:

Your Dog's Daily Wellness Checklist: The Three Pillars Approach

(October 2025)

Most dog owners focus on fixing problems after they arise, but what if we could prevent them instead? In this article, I introduce the Full Circle Care approach—a proactive framework built on three essential pillars: physical wellness (Stretch & Move), cognitive wellness (Think & Learn), and nervous system wellness (Rest & Reset). I break down daily checklists for each pillar and explain how this holistic approach builds resilience rather than just managing problems.

Beyond the Bowl: Simple Ways to Boost Your Pup’s Food Rewards

(September 2025)

Food rewards are central to training, but handing over a treat doesn’t have to be the end of the story. In this article, I shared creative and simple delivery methods—like tossing, rolling, chasing, or hiding treats—that make rewards more engaging, fun, and effective for dogs. These playful techniques keep training fresh while also channeling natural instincts like sniffing and chasing.

When Dogs Guard People: Understanding, Managing, and Changing Behavior

(August 2025)

Guarding behavior can be especially concerning when it’s directed at people. This piece breaks down why dogs may guard their humans, how to tell the difference between guarding and general reactivity, and what management strategies, training cues, and counterconditioning techniques can help. I also emphasize when to seek professional help, since safety always comes first in cases of escalation.
